Global Field Entry #1

The country I have chosen is France, my reasoning behind France is because it was the first place I traveled to with my grandfather as a child, as well as a senior year trip with my mother. Those two people are the most important to me and the fact that I was fortunate enough to visit France twice and have two completely different experiences is what helped my decision. France has always sparked my interest, with my first birthday party being "Paris and Poodles", their cultures and their everyday lives. I don't know much about France, besides wine and cheese being their pride and used in some of their religions, and that their portions are smaller than the American portions. Another thing I noticed while in France was that most French will either walk or take the train if they do not have a car, they do not take lift or uber. An assumption that I've heard people make is that the French are rude and arrogant. Another assumption is that the main culture is France is Paris, the fashion and fun. I hope to truly dive into their culture and lives, to see what it is like to be raised in their religion and what a normal day for them looks like. My plan on the development on my sociological imagination is by exploring all the cultures, religions, and just everything different about each thing, instead of just worrying about one culture or religion. With the challenges I hope to see how each person, or group visualizes the problem and how they overcome it. The questions I hope to explore further are what are the main religion practiced in France and what the cultures are in each religion. How would the culture in one religion effect the other or outsiders. This country is a good lens for me for learning because of all the different cultures and beliefs and expanding my knowledge in those cultures and their lives.
